Alex and I spent the evening poring over our new giant coloring posters, which he bought for us at Michael's last week. He's working on a wizard in his workshop and I'm coloring a knight in an enchanted forest. The details are endless, which makes it challenging, but so engrossing. (I tried to find an image of my poster on the web but was unsuccessful. Instead I captured, above, a detail from a mandala coloring page which you can actually download, print, and color yourself here.)
I love coloring my poster because:
- it reminds me of childhood when my brother and I would spend hours doing art together -- happy memories
- it's a great alternative to other, more mind-numbing, forms of escape and recreation, e.g., television
- it's rather romantic, actually
Plus, Alex says that it helps keep the mind sharp and lubricated, like doing crosswords or reading books. Well, if nothing else, it keeps my mind and hands occupied, at least for a little while.
How do you escape?
