birthday bash

On Jan. 2 Mom turned 76, and on Jan. 6 her brother Ned (who was visiting from out-of-town) was turning 70. That was cause for a big birthday party, indeed! So, 14 of us met at Baja Cantina in Carmel Valley and it was a great success!

Below, Mom's holding up the scroll presented to her by Young (who is an exchange student from Taiwan). It says something about her having good health, happiness, and a long life. He did the calligraphy himself. It's really quite beautiful and I was somewhat envious of my mother.
