dinner with friends

Last night I made a rare exception to my rule that we have no guests at the house until after the interior renovations have been completed (we still have another month or so to go). We hadn't seen our friends, Kathy & Nancy, since our wedding last summer, so we offered to make them dinner here. We set up the dining table in the living room (the dining room is currently my office) and, while rather cozy, it served us quite well. Alex made his not-yet-famous bean enchiladas. The conversation flowed freely. And I don't regret bending my rule at all.
