Mediterranean Mosaic: Olympia

Corfu was lovely (no decent pictures to share, though), but our other two destinations in Greece were much more memorable: Olympia and Santorini. It was June 16th when we arrived in Katakolon, Greece the "gateway to Olympia." Olympia is, of course, the site of the original, ancient Olympic games. The ruins were vast, impressive and inspirational. Although I'm not particularly an Olympic fan, I was awed by the place where it all began. I greatly appreciated the immense human power -- intellectual, physical, architectural, artistic -- evident in the ruins, as well as the sheer age of the place. It was awesome. My brother and sister and I were deeply moved.
