art card of the day

My brother, Chris, hunts for abalone shells along the Big Sur coast. He polishes what he collects and creates the most beautiful earrings and pendants from what he finds.

Sometimes he gives me the "scraps" that he deems unworthy of his jewelry. I love it when he does! Bits and pieces of abalone shell can make a collage come alive.

I enjoy how this abalone plays off the colors of the paper -- yellow, purple, and green. And its lines and shape are echoed in the design of tea-stained paper towels in the background.

3.5" x 2.5" / $5.00

Those colors blend together very nicely. Sorta reminds me of Neapolitan ice cream, when the colors run together.
