Mesa Verde

The Four Corners is an incredibly rich cultural area. Endless things to do and see and experience. Not long ago Alex and I took an excursion to Mesa Verde National Park, only about an hour's drive west of us. While we saw numerous cliff dwellings, Cliff Palace is probably the most impressive and well-known site in the park. All the pictures that follow are from Cliff Palace.

This Ancestral Pueblo culture site is the largest cliff dwelling still standing in North America. It is believed to have been constructed somewhere between A.D. 1190 and A.D. 1280. Located at over 7,000-feet in elevation, Cliff Palace contained 151 rooms, 23 kivas, and housed between 100-150 people. (postcard text)
