Labor Day weekend

Alex and I shared an event-filled few days visiting my family in No Cal this Labor Day weekend. Here are some highlights:

Breakfast in Carmel Valley with Dad.

Me.

The house in CV where I grew up.

Celebrating my nephew Tyler's birthday at the bowling alley in Monterey.

After my sixth gutter ball in a row, I quit bowling. But I found an air hockey table and I regained my pride by beating Alex 3 out of 3 times. Much more fun than bowling, by far.

Barbara and Tyler.

Nancy and Alex.

Tyler and his decadent chocolate cake. Thank you, Costco.

The decoy present for Tyler from Grand-Jack, which eventually led to a rather nice hand-weight set.

Bro' and Momma.

Breakfast with Mom and kids (Cathi, John, Chris, and Nancy) for a family pow-wow.

Lord Katz, the most mellow, laid back cat I've ever met, bar none.

Pop and Alex chit-chatting.

A final breakfast with Chris.

A quick stop at the beach near home. A lovely way to end the weekend.

I, also, find air hockey funner (and easier to win) than bowling... but I'm guessing that Alex, who LOST 3 out of 3 rounds, probably prefers bowling.

Funny how we tend to like what we're good at.

I really like the picture of Alex at the beach. Something in my chest relaxed & expanded when I saw the coastline. Santa Barbara really is an (albeit expensive) paradise.
