We had recently been watching CSI, Season 7, on DVD (through Netflix, which I highly recommend). The final episode turned out to be a riveting cliff-hanger, with the fate of one of the main characters left hanging in the balance. We were completely anguished. We would have to wait for the resolution of the storyline for over a year, when Season 8 (the current season) was released on DVD. That was an intolerable idea!
Motivated by an unquenchable desire for more CSI, I did a little research online and discovered that, lo and behold, you can download the most current CSI episodes from Amazon.com Unbox and play them on your computer. For $1.89 an episode, we'll be as up-to-date as any other CSI fan. How cool is that?!

Ah, so you finally got to Sarah's predicament in the Season 7 finale. We just saw the last episode of Season 8 last week that was done before the writer's strike and it's entitled Bull. It was okay, but not one of my favorites. There were two episodes before that one though that involved something with Warrick, and I feel like they left that unresolved because I can't remember what happened in part 2. I'll have to read a recap. I hate when that happens. It's probably because it aired such a long time ago.
Why not just subscribe to basic cable???
We've watched 4 of the 11 CSI episodes that have aired this year...we'll be caught up in a few days, no doubt. Now, twinmon, you won't have to keep the plots a secret when you see us! We'll probably get caught up on CSI:NY next.
As for why we don't just get cable, well, it's partly money and partly habit and partly principle, though I can't really explain it. Basically, Alex refuses to get cable, so that's just the way it is. We don't have TiVO, either. But we manage to get by on ABC, Netflix, and now Amazon Unbox. It works for us.
We still don't watch CSI NY but continue to watch CSI Miami--I know, I know--creepy and annoying David Caruso, but we still like the show.
We do get all of the regular TV shows without any cable at all, but we refuse to order cable and pay that extra money for more TV when we pretty much have enough already. I would love to have TiVO though since we still use VCRs to tape anything we will miss. How primitive, especially having a husband in the entertainment/television business.
Once again, the post about television gets LOTS of comments.
Hey, subscribing to cable tv is like buying variety packs of See's candies by the case. It is FAR too easy to over consume the product. And if one DOESN'T over consume the product, it's pretty much a waste of money, isn't it?
Jayne Dough nails it!
Touche'! Cable has been cancelled, it's the principal of it all. Now, off to See's candy!
