Gaviota Trail

While decidedly arduous, today's hike above Gaviota State Beach was rejuvenating. We were gently surrounded by fog for the majority of our walk. The gauzy haze was gorgeous, and cooling. The narrow, challenging, uphill trail was extremely difficult at times, but we were rewarded by beautiful rock caves at the summit where we meditated before descending.

Although I've been walking for exercise for some time now, my body wasn't entirely prepared for the strenuousness of my recent hiking expeditions. I'm now using muscles that had been long neglected and needing attention. I have a few extra aches and pains today, but they're worth the sense of accomplishment, the increased self-esteem, and the connection with nature that I experience each time I hike.
