Mediterranean Mosaic: The Amalfi Coast

On June 7, 2008 -- the final day of the western half of our cruise -- we toured the enchanting Amalfi Coast of Italy, south of Naples. As in our other Italian port days, we arranged for a private tour guide rather than take one of the ship's bus tours. While the bus tours were often quite good, they didn't compare to having one's own personal guide and minivan. It turned out to be a magnificent day!

Our drive along the Amalfi Coast offered numerous views, like this one, which often reminded me of the Big Sur coastline:

Here's a rare photo of all four of us together -- Chris, Cathi, Nancy, Peggy:

A bountiful (and humorous) roadside fruit stand:

Our tour guide, Fabriziano, brought us to the most fantastic restaurant perched above Positano, Italy. The food rivaled the view. Seriously. It was AMAZING. Some of the best pasta and grilled vegetables I've EVER had. Damn it was good!

The spectacular views of Positano from our table:

Undoubtedly, I intend to return to this area and, this time, bring my half-Italian husband!

OK, the ambiance at your luncheon is the epitome of all possible fantasies of a tour through the Med. How fabuloso!!!!!
