Mediterranean Mosaic: Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain brought us more treats. On June 2, 2008 we were whisked around this large cosmopolitan city, stopping to see some of the highlights, including a rousing flamenco show, pictured below. The dancing was inspiring! The way they moved their feet and bodies was both powerful and sensual.

But even more impressive to me, as an art historian, was finally having the opportunity to see Antoni Gaudi's awe-inspiring Sagrada Familia, the massive Roman Catholic Church begun 126 years ago and still under construction. I regret how briefly we were able to view the site and that we hadn't the time to visit the interior. If I were ever to return to Barcelona in the future, it would definitely be the art historical treasures, such as this masterwork, which I would explore in much more detail.
