So, I just keep reminding myself that I'm not a professional artist -- I do it because I love it, not to make money. And I console myself, too, with the fact that I have been selected to show my art cards at Studio & in August. In the meantime...onward with my creations!

sidewalk vendor day
Yesterday I set out my collages in front of the Durango Arts Center, along with three other vendors, hoping to make some sales off the Memorial Day foot traffic downtown. I wouldn't call it a success -- all I was left with at the end of the day was $43 and a seriously nasty sunburn. The day was a lesson in humility and surrender. But let me tell you, it's not easy putting your work out there for all to see, and end up with only two sales. Albeit, I received many compliments, and that made me feel good. However, I couldn't help feeling a bit like a failure as an artist.

I've looked at a lot of table vendors and I would like to give BIG BIG PRAISE to you & your husband for your display. The tables look clean and nice, and that diagonal-tilt display board... it's fantastic!
One young man came by with his girlfriend and commented to her, "Miniature collages ... they make you smile!"
