juried in

I am pleased to announce that my collage above has been selected to hang in the 35th Annual Juried Exhibit at the Durango Arts Center this month. It's a great honor because 1) mine was one of only 60 pieces selected out of 190 entries, and 2) the jury process was "blind," meaning that the juror, Chad Colby, didn't know which pieces belonged to which artists, thus his decisions were based on merit alone.

I must admit, however, to a strange kind of "survivors' guilt," given how many of my fellow artists -- many of whom are extremely talented -- were rejected from the show. Up pops the he-must-have-made-a-mistake-to-have-selected-my-work self talk. It is true, what they say, that success has its dark side.
