Superbad

For the last few days, rather than busy myself with packing more boxes, I ended up crawling inside one and hiding there for awhile. It appears that I have largely extricated myself, though.

A few laughs helped by watching Superbad, a clever little high school nerd dick-flick. The characters -- Seth, Evan, and Fogel (a.k.a. McLovin) -- are surprisingly endearing, despite (or for some, because of) their obsession with alcohol and women. (Note to 12 steppers: potential triggers throughout. Also beware, penis-phobes.) One of the things I most appreciated about the movie was its mostly subtle homoeroticism which largely avoided crossing the line into blatant homophobia, a cinematic buzz-kill for me every time. In my opinion, it doesn't compare to Napoleon Dynamite, but it still has plenty of hilarious and, even, touching moments throughout. Not an A (maybe because I'm a chick), but worthwhile if you appreciate the genre.
