Okay, so it won't make the cover of Architectural Digest, but our kitchen's recent face-lift warrants "radical transformation" status in my world. You'd probably agree, especially if you've seen it before.
For the past few weeks I've been de-cluttering, cleaning, and painting our 1969 mobile home's (read small, funky, and shoddy) kitchen and breakfast bar. I think the result is impressive, given what I had to work with.
Below are some photos detailing the change from the old, junky kitchen to the new and greatly improved version (for which I'm happy to accept most of the credit).
This is how the area near the stove used to look:
And the same area now:
Here's the other corner of the kitchen, as it used to be:
Looking much better now:
And, unbelievably, the breakfast bar once looked like this:
Our update is a remarkable improvement:
The soft green color I chose is called "rejuvenate." While the kitchen (any kitchen) isn't where I go for rejuvenation, our kitchen certainly received some well-deserved treatment.

It's hard for me to believe that it's even the same place. Painting the cabinets, especially, modernizes the space by a couple of decades.
Plus, living with a hoarder is challenging. Isn't part of you frustrated that it couldn't look like this years ago, even while another part of you is thrilled that now it finally is? The trick will be to maintain it without wrecking the relationship, because you know there are very good reasons your beloved had to live in such clutter before, and it's doubtful those reasons have evaporated.
YOU, however, DONE GOOD... way better than good, actually. Do you have a sample scrapbook for your business, so that you can show potential clients before/after shots? These certainly qualify for such a posting.
I'm glad for you. *warm hug*
Good job Nancy. Looks really good. I have never been to your place, and since you will be moving, I may never see it in person. I, too, live with a hoarder and clutterer (is that a word?) For years I have been driven crazy with the clutter and papers everywhere (which is the source of a lot of our arguments), and finally "he" cleared the desk which you could hardly even see anymore. We still have quite a ways to go, but it's better.
Hope to see you guys for Thanksgiving!
Holy shit - looks great Nancy! Wonderful improvement. Sure you wanna move???
