Raku results

I recently posted about diving back into clay. At that point I had not glazed or fired any of my pieces. I can now share a few photos of finished vessels that have been Raku fired, using the kiln in the photo below:



These are the results of the first two firings:





















And just to be practical, I'm starting to make a series of small bowls for my cats' food and water:

The "reading girl" on my fireplace mantel is Raku. The glaze looked amazing under the special, bright spotlights at the expo. from which I bought her. At home she's still pretty, but about half her splendor is invisible in my hum-drum lighting.

Raku can produce beautiful results.
