zentangles I

I learned about Zentangles about a year ago, but hadn't made one myself until last week. What are Zentangles? They are hand-drawn black-and-white abstract designs made from the repetition of simple patterns. The key to Zentangles is that they are unplanned and accessible to everyone. It requires only paper and a black pen. TanglePatterns.com has a good description of Zentangles here. And there's a Zentangle blog here. Zentangles are traditionally done on  paper measuring exactly 3.5" x 3.5". But since I have a plethora of art cards (2.5" x 3.5"), that's where I started. Below is a sampling of six of my Zentangles. I consider them extremely rudimentary and unsophisticated compared to those I've seen posted on the Internet. But, I have to start somewhere.
