Mediterranean Mosaic: Pompeii

I have long wanted to visit Pompeii, the ancient Roman city destroyed, but preserved, by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. I had my chance, however brief, on the day we visited the Amalfi Coast on June 7, 2008. It was better than I expected. I witnessed the ruins of an entire city, much of its architectural and decorative details intact. We were amazed! Here's a sampling of what I encountered during the very short 90 minutes we were there:

When I read "Pompeii" I wondered how many of our photos would be of the same things, but it looks like none. I think the fresco was from the same house, though.
