I've been making a few new shrinky dinks recently, in particular, the colored grids that I find most enjoyable to create. The successful ones, which aren't too warped, will likely make their way into art cards eventually, like the one below.
Here are the shrinky dinks I just made:

I've learned that the original design, before baking, shrinks to about a quarter of its size, as shown in the before-and-after picture below. The plastic sheet measured 3.5" x 2.5" before the process, and measured 1.25" x 1" after.
Here's what the process looks like during the shrinking process in the toaster oven:

FASCINATING!
It seems like there should be some way to press them so that they cool off flat... but without sticking... like wax paper & an iron. I mean, I know that wouldn't work, but it seems like there should be something... and obviously it's got my mind a-whirling on the the idea.
Does it take long? Do they all cook for the same amount of time, or is it variable?
I haven't really found a way to guarantee that they cool flat, but so far, it seems to work ok. They're more likely to warp but still be flat.
The baking time is almost always about 3 minutes -- not long, so it's pretty much instant gratification.
